ISC-Doctors (November 21, 2015)

It all began on October 21, when flyers went up and students flocked to join the promising event that was ISC Doctors. The goal was health awareness and to empower our students with knowledge to emulate doctors instead of inviting real doctors!  The idea turned out to be so much more.

From the beginning everyone was energized and willing to learn. Each team of students chose a topic. The possibilities were endless; everything from diabetes to heart disease. As time passed, the general form of the event began to take shape. The week before the event was quite hectic; everyone was busy rehearsing and some teams were still hashing out the details.

Despite all the hustle and bustle, when the day of reckoning came, everyone was prepared. The stage was a piece of art; the stage pieces were beautifully designed by the skilled prefects and the props were expertly chosen. The event itself went off without a hitch. The SLO® positive advertising and great people skills made sure that the stands were filled with parents, teachers, and fellow students; we were honored by the presence of the respected Mrs. Leila Saad along with Mr.Kanso, the vice president of Academic Development. Our beautiful hosts, Linda and Rawan, were amiable, and the crowd responded well to them. The Doctors themselves performed excellently. Each and every one of them excelled in their field, and their information was accurate and concise. The mood of the event was created and focused by the background music; it was somber at one point and then joyful the next.

The technical side of the event was difficult to organize, but with the expertise of one of our SLO prefects, Ashraf, all the slides moved like a well-oiled machine. During the half-time break, the audience was treated to a musical performance by the “School Band” consisting of some of our very talented prefects.

It would be an understatement to say that ISC Doctors was a success; Ms. Leila Saad even asked for the event to be repeated for the remainder of the students. She also penned a letter to the participants to congratulate them on their accomplishment. ISC Doctors was completely planned by the students and it proves that we can reach great heights if we work together. We look forward to seeing it become a regular event in years to come.
